Aluminum Corporation of China Co., Ltd. issued a new notice again in a short period of time-"Notice on Sales of Non-metallurgical Alumina and Ordinary Aluminum Hydroxide * Low Price Limits". This is the fourth price increase since April! It mentioned that the price of alumina has been raised again for the changes in the alumina market, this time it has risen to the current 3,050 yuan/ton! Prior to this, Chinalco has completed three price increases, respectively on April 16. 2750 yuan/ton; 2850 yuan/ton on April 26 and 2,950 yuan/ton on May 10.

In the recent environmental inspections in Shanxi, some alumina plants were ordered to cut and suspend production. Based on the new cuts and halts, SMM revised the balance in May. It is estimated that China’s alumina production will be 5.973 million tons in May (31 days), a large surplus in a single month. Narrowed to around 150,000 tons, which is the lowest month since December 2018. Stimulated by news of production cuts, alumina prices continued to rise, and the spot price of SMM alumina on May 13 was reported at 2803 yuan/ton.
